First Day
My little heart is pounding, everything's so new!
The only thing that helps is hanging on to you.
I want to keep you with me but I want to play with them.
Why can't you stay right by me as I try to make new friends?
It's time for you to go now and though I fuss and cry,
In a moment I'll be playing and my eyes will be all dry.
When you think of me and worry,wondering if I'm making friends,
Be assured that I'll have fun at school but be with you at day's end.
I'll have many wondrous stories to tell you of my school,
How I played nice with the others and learned most every rule.
So, hard as it might be for you to turn around and go,
I'll miss you, oh so very much! But it's time for me to grow.
